Space
The astronauts went up in the Space Shuttle again, yesterday. Do you think they might encounter some of these guys up there?

Collage Class Project
I took a collage class from Liz Pierce two Saturdays ago. She taught us some fun techniques. We took up most of the class learning how to create great effects on paper with acrylic paint. We didn't have a whole lot of time to make a wonderful composition so my project ended up having too may element that were near the same value. I'm posting it anyway because it shows what I learned. Next time I'll have more time to think about the composition and values. I think it was fun to make and it's OK for a first try at collage. Thanks Liz for a great class. WOW! Blogger changed the way it uploads images and the new post page has some changes. That was a surprise.

Scarecrow Makeover
I decided Mr. Scarecrow needed a makeover, of sorts. I gave him a treatment with the Prismacolor colorless blender. I think he looks much better now.
Happy October
This is a quick illustration of a happy scarecrow. I did it for an invitation I made for Activity Days. We are going to make scarecrows for our Recognition night activity. It is done on paper made for painting with acrylics. The paper has a linen-like texture. I think it's fun to use color pencil on it.I also used the image to make a birthday card for my DAD, who turned 80 on Sunday. Happy Birthday DAD!

Yellowstone the First National Park
I've been watching the Ken Burns PBS documentary on the National Parks. The National Parks are an amazing treasure. I've been fortunate enough to visit many of them. We have a lot of National Parks here in Utah and others not too far away in neighboring states. Visiting the National Parks is a great way to spend a family vacation. I did this watercolor of the Lower Falls of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone in a recent watercolor class. It's in Yellowstone National Park. Not the Grand Canyon. My husband and I were able to go to this same place on snowmobiles a few years ago. It's an amazing sight in the winter. The water from the falls freezes into a mountain of ice at the base of the falls. It's quite a sight any time of year. I've been there quite a few times.I took the watercolor class from Lester Lee who was kind enough to come teach a class at the Syracuse Guild for the Visual Arts. He's a very good artist and teacher. I took my little portable palette to the class but once I was into the painting I wished I had taken my tube paints and a large pallet instead. I had to borrow some hookers green light from the lady next to me. The small pallet is nice for some things but has limited colors. I left the painting unfinished. That was all the time we had in class and I think it's good enough for a quick study of the subject and to learn a few new techniques.

Primary Program Cover 2009 My Eternal Family
I've been asked to design the Primary Program cover for the children's program at church. Last year I did the cover artwork in black and white and the children colored it. This year I got to do the coloring. I had a lot of requests last year from people asking if they could use it for their ward's program. I gave my permission to anyone who would email me. It was fun to see where the people were from who used it. I'm doing the same this year. PERMISSION to use THIS artwork is obtained by emailing me at: snowartmom@yahoo.com. It's free and it's easy.
So, please C.T.R. and ask.
Permission for use is limited to use for the Sacrament meeting Primary Program for your ward. You may not use it for any other publication and may not use it for financial gain. Please, make sure my copyright notice is included on all copies made.
